Getting ThereThe national airline is Aerolíneas Argentinas . oneworld Visit South America Pass: valid within Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile (except Easter Island), Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Participating airlines are Aer Lingus (EI), American Airlines (AA), British Airways (BA), Cathay Pacific (CX), Finnair (AY), Iberia (IB), LAN (LA) and Qantas (QF). The pass must be bought outside South America in the country of residence. It allows unlimited travel to 34 cities. There are connections between Buenos SAires and Montevideo in Uruguay by ferry. Or with Paraguay via the river. There is only one viable train link from Pousadas on the border with Paraguay with Trenes del Litoral There are good road connections with Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruquay. There are several cross border coach companies. |

Getting AroundThere is a good network of local flights within Argentina mainly offered by Aerolíneas Argentinas, there are special offers and passes available on these flights when bought with an international ticket. Departure taxes are not always included in the ticket. Most boats trips are for scenic beauty rather than practical movement, but those trips around Patagonia are definitely worthwhile. |

Train travel is slow and infrequent in general following the collapse fo the railways in the 1990's, but a new high speed link has been maintained linking Buenos Aires and Rosario. Otherwise there are a number of privately run tourist trains, through scenic areas.

Most major highways are in a good state of repair, secondary roads may be packed dirt, but are generally passable: Car Hire: drivers must be at least 21, and carry an international drivers permit. Your passport and a credit card for the deposit will also be required. Buses: Most towns are connected by privately run buses, the buses are usually modern and comfortable and in good condition. |
